The Tandoori food is cooked at high temperatures usually over a charcoal fire or wood fire. Temperatures in the Tandoor can approach 480°C and therefore it is required for the Tandoor to stay lit for long periods of time. To ensure that constant temperature is maintained in the Tandoor, many modern Tandoors use electric or gas instead of charcoal to cook the Tandoori food. The Tandoor is a central part of Indian and Pakistani Restaurants because the tradition associated with cooking in it. The most popular Pakistani foods or Indian foods that come out of the Tandoor are the flat breads called Naan, Tandoori Chicken, Seekh Kababs and Chicken Tikka.
